My roomy was such a lovely friend today. And spent the afternoon taking photos of Moi!
So here I am CURLY SUE!

You can see more pictures from the photo-shoot on my flickr

Alice... if only!

I just discovered this amazing site called Polvore where you get to design your own outfits.
I don't really know if this is going to be good thing or bad thing for me. Its SO fun but I'm a little worried I will loose my super powers over my credit card. Eeek! This first outfit was a trial, and so I used my friends account to make it. But I already know I'm going to be spending way to much time on this site. Funny how after you try something new... you wonder how you ever lived without it in the first place. I can't even remember my life before blogging! Seriously! Anyways... in the real world I got some great new outfits from Goodwill! And I also got my hair done today! Just think Curly Sue!!! I will post pictures soon!

Home Is Where The Sweets Are...

There is a magic in that little world, home;
it is a mystic circle that surrounds comforts and virtues
never known beyond its hallowed limits
Robert Southey

Jim and I have both had a really long and emotionally tough week of work.
It is so hard when we are both struggling...
because the last thing you want to hear is someone else's problems
when your having your own.
All you want to hear really is that the other is GREAT!
But all in all Jim and I just keep reminding each other how blessed we are...
to have each other, a home, two messy puppy dogs
and bigger and better opportunities ahead of us!

1234.... I Can't Get This Song Out Of My Head!

I always sneak over to my pal Chelsea's blog to watch this clip!
I L♥VE IT SOOOO MUCH!
I love Sesame Street! Cookie Monster, and the rest of the gang. It's super hard to be in a bad mood when its on! Thats why I watch it still from time to time. This is also #2,349.8 why I need a kid- so I don't look so silly watching Sesame Street all by myself and singing out loud
"1234 .....brock brock ba brock!!!!"

Presents For Sophia

We have a new baby girl in our family.
A sweet new baby cousin for me to spoil!
Of-coarse she got homemade gifts from her big cousin.  I put hair accessories in the top of her Keepsake Cake and little socks in the bottom. I hope she will keep many special treasures in her little Keepsake Cake and maybe serve it at tea parties with all her friends and teddy bears.

Fall - Into Friday

"Come said the wind to
the leaves one day,
Come o're the meadows
and we will play.
Put on your dresses
scarlet and gold,
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold.

- A Children's Song of the 1880's

I love the fall... I can feel it fast approaching and I embrace it whole heartily. I do wish we had more signs of it here in Oregon. But I can still feel the air change and the craving of apple cider rumbling in my tummy. What do you love most about fall? I think for me it is smell. The fresh smell of chilled sun lit mornings. Have a lovely weekend!

NEW, new, NEW

I have new pictures of my studio to share! This corner just seemed to come to life when I found this little medicine cabinet with a cute little window... a little paint and it became the focal point of the room. The perfect place to store all those buttons!

A special package made its way to my doorstep today! All the way from France! It was sent from my very wonderful new friend Olivia. You should stop by her blog jojo caramel... she is just the most talented and creative and happy go lucky spirit I know. She makes my day with her lovely comments... and I dearly hope we get the chance to meet someday. Until then- I send you a virtual hug my friend and a great big THANKS! The illustrations are so charming and every little thing reminds me of you! :)

I have made another wonderful new friend. Her name is Valerie and she is a supper dupper talented artist. She and her friend Cammi made these AMAZING costumes for small magazine. Check out their blogs only on a windy day and for the good days to see the entire collection and tutorials!

It's finding inspiration and making NEW friends that keeps me hooked on blogging.
I feel so blessed to have all you wonderful gals in my life!

New Items In The Shop

I just added a few new items to my little shop!

A 1978 Ronald McDonald doll

A vintage foam cushion
- Perfect for afternoon naps

& A very large paper table cover
of the very cute but trouble making Peter Rabbit

Special Items In Their Proper Places

Found this great bottle crate the other day.
A few screws in the wall
and it makes into the lovelies little keepsake holder.
Little cubbies for all the silly little things that make me oh so happy!

The upstairs corner of the nook has turned into the toy room. The antique toy collection is growing by the week! One Fisher Price toy at a time. It's been really fun watching our new 3 year old roommate play with all the old toys. Although I have to remind myself from time to time that they are just toys. its easy to get upset and say "thats mine!" I know pieces will get  lost and things will be left on the ground for the puppies to pick up... but they are JUST TOYS! Right? :)

Inspiration: Gingerbread House

Lolli Shops is hosting a contest for all venders to create non-edible gingerbread houses to sale this holiday season. To get myself in the jolly holiday spirit I put together this mosaic. I've never made a gingerbread house before but I'm starting to feel very inspired!

Yummy treats and oh so Sweet!

Sorry I forgot to save the links but they are on my flickr...

Home Again...

Just dropping in to say hi. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We just got back into town a couple of hours ago. It was a lovely trip but I hated the drive. Not that it wasn't pretty, but 6 hours in the car twice in 3 days is just too much. But I uploaded these images I took in Pomeroy Washington on are way up to Idaho. Made out of old combine sickle. I think they are pretty awesome. I've seen them before but this was the first time we stopped and took a better look. Oh my - What sharp teeth these two have!

It was a sure good thing we did go down because Jim's grandfather accidently swallowed some quarters and they needed Jim to drive them to the larger hospital in the area. Mean-while I was left by myself... so I did what any stressed out girl would do - I SHOPPED!
Thrifted though every goodwill and antique store in the area. I will share my finds in a couple of days. I will also be updating my shop with a few thrifted goodies as-well! :)

Hello & Good Bye

I found this amazing letterpress company called Hello Lucky. I am always snooping around stationary shops browsing through the amazing artwork. But I find it hard to spend money on every one of them that I fall in love with. So I write down the names on the backs and hop online. This time I really struck out because Hello Lucky has the most incredible site and BLOG! I scooped out just a few of my favorites for your viewing pleasures.

P.S. I'm going to be out of town for a few days... back to Idaho!
Catch up with you all next week.

A Party With The Green Elephant

Jim and I were recently invited to be part of a special photo-shoot
for the opening of our favorite deli's party room.
Elephants Delicatessen is the very best
deli and bar in all of Portland (in my expert opinion).
If you ever find yourself in Portland Oregon
do visit them at their 22nd St location.
You will be glad you did!
And if its later in the day, make sure to order a pomegranate martini. Yumm!
